What is Sculpture Now?

Round Table
1st September 2002
Seminar Room
Henry Moore Institute, Leeds

Held on the final day of the exhibition the object sculpture, with Tobias Rehberger, Jo’lle Tuerlinckx, Keith Wilson and an invited audience.

the object sculpture provoked a lot of discussion, and this event offered the final opportunity for engagement. Artists, curators and critics were invited to contribute to a round table discussion. Focussing on the initial question ‘what is sculpture now?’ it considered how conceptual art changed the definition of sculpture, process-orientated working methods, and the role of British sculpture today. A detailed account of the discussion is available on request. The report, written by Antony Hudek, reveals the complexities of attempting to answer this question and the process behind organising an exhibition when three artists are invited to select the works.
