This gallery discussion will accompany the concurrent exhibition of Keith Arnatt work from 1962 to 1972, ’Box, Body, Burial: The Sculptural Imagination of Keith Arnatt’ (8 February to 26 April).
Keith Arnatt (b. 1930) is best known for his conceptual photographic work from the late 1960s and early 70s and his subsequent documentary photography of people and objects in the landscape, but this exhibition shows that his artistic roots are also firmly grounded in sculpture. Through his preoccupations with the box, body and burial in the early part of his career, Arnatt challenged sculptural convention long before he was seen as a photographer.
A ’walk and talk’ gallery discussion is being held by the Henry Moore Institute and will involve Jo Melvin, David Mellor, Ben Tufnell and Jonathan Monk discussing Arnatt’s work with the curator of the exhibition, the Henry Moore Insitute’s Jon Wood.
This event will run from 6-7.30pm is free of charge but places must be booked as space is limited. Please contact Kirstie Gregory, kirstie@henry-moore.ac.uk, 0113 246 7467.
